It's April again, and it's another opportunity to stretch and challenge myself to write or unearth a poem each day.
In Canada, the League of Canadian Poets has chosen weather as their theme, inviting us to "delve into the experiences, feelings, and inspiration that weather offers."

In the United States, the Academy of American Poets doesn't expressly have a theme but aims to celebrate "poets’ integral role in our culture and that poetry matters."
There are, of course, others attempting this challenge, and you can find a global listing of participants at NaPoWriMo.
I haven't yet decided whether I will attempt to write a poem each day from scratch or try some more erasure/ extraction poems -- or perhaps even try some #vispo experiments!In any case, please follow along, make suggestions, offer critique, share...

I often read the prompt and go through my very large collection of poem drafts and see if I can spend the day polishing one up a bit. I look forward to seeing your posts.

Hello, El! While "weather" may not initially inspire, it could offer a lot of possibility for exploring it as a metaphor. Certainly -- or at least here in Canada -- the weather is one of the 3 most popular conversation starters/ references so it makes sense as far as a Canajan audience goes.
I haven't decided how tightly I'll hie to the theme, but it will definitely be in the background. On the horizon? In the air? Hovering overhead? Ugh.
