NaPoWriMo - day six

psalm one

you will be blessed
when you surround yourself with life;
when you build walls against
those who would sow death, those
who would water you with bitterness.

what shall bring your soul joy?
what words will you gather in your mouth
and to shape your thoughts?
how long will you spend at that meal?
how long until those words feed your soul?
how long until you bear fruit
and feed the hungry?

there are choices:
you can have an anchor
or be sown to the wind.
you can find your way home
or find yourself alone
in the crowd.
either your path will be noted,
or it will be forgotten.

Easter by Marie Howe - NPM6

Easter

Two of the fingers on his right hand
had been broken

so when he poured back into that hand it surprised
him--it hurt him at first.

And the whole body was too small. Imagine
the sky trying to fit into a tunnel carved into a hill.

He came into it two ways:
From the outside, as we step into a pair of pants.

And from the center--suddenly all at once.
Then he felt himself awake in the dark alone.
